I'm damn proud of this project. This is the result of a year of research. When I first came to Seattle, many people had told me that I would be interested in a band called Sage. I finally went to see them and was completely blown away! I knew I needed to record them. Unfortunately, They broke up soon after that show. I called Michelle at Will Records which was the label they were on and expressed my interest in recording Sage. Michelle informed me that they had indeed broken up. I sugested that I would be interested in any projects that the individual members might conjure up. This was it. Marc and I recorded two demos prior to this CD. One was with a full band and the other just solo. This recording is basically a solo effort. Marc played all the instruments except violin which was played by Anne Marie. It was a challenge to direct Marc to his artistic vision when each track had to be recorded separately. But we accomplished it just as well. Marc is one of those few guitarists that insist that their guitar be recorded correctly. He has an amazing tone that comes from a very personal picking style and vintage equipment. I hit it right on the head using the Colburn Patented Micing Technique #19!! Would you like to know what it is? Sorry.
With this record we tried to throw a surprise into every song. A subtle acoustic part, a banjo lead, a silky pedal steel or a cheezy organ which needed to be pitch shifted, all of these are examples of the many surprises one will find on this disc. I will warn you now, these songs are catchy, they reflect your mood. When it's an overcast rain day in Seattle it's overcast and rainy. When it's sunny and bright this disc is sunny and bright. I would venture to say it slices and it dices! One thing is for certain, you will be humming these songs long after the player hits park.
